How are Teacher-Friendly Resources Revolutionising Rural Education?

Have you ever wondered how much time teachers spend on non-teaching related tasks?
Well, for most of us the answer would be no. It is not the first thought when imagining a teacher. We have an image of them standing in front of a class, teaching new concepts and actively involved in solving questions. However, the reality is quite contrary.
Our reports show that the amount of time teachers spend in non-teaching activities stands at 81% in many rural areas.
For decades, huge investments have been made to change this situation. Still, they have proven to be insufficient, especially in rural areas, where the necessity outweighs its counterpart. The solutions generally are out of reach for most schools due to costs or restrictions like lack of consistent electricity supply or inadequate training on utilisation of technologically advanced resources.
We, too, realised this problem and used the crowbar model of change. Here, we consider ourselves the crowbar that uses the fulcrum to shift the burdens between quality education and children. This thought is best reflected in our six innovations. These have reduced the time it takes teachers to complete administrative tasks like lesson planning, setting assessments, gathering the right teaching material, etc. All this is independent of factors like consistent internet connection (tackled with our pre-loaded content) and accessibility (as institutions don’t have to pay for it).
The first tool that extensively reduces the non-teaching workload is the teach-easy kits. Designed specifically to improve the Math and English teaching and learning experience, they are a blend of teaching-learning materials, board games, and an audio box. This way, children can be engaged with physical objects and audio mediums to create an interactive learning experience without much hassle.
Our tools extend beyond learning; they also aid in improving assessments. Sampark Didi ke Sawaal is an innovation that makes assessments anxiety-free and interactive. With a time limit and score system, it adds a game-like touch to the process.
Over 3.34 lakh teachers also use our other innovations, like the Sampark Smartshala App for lesson plans and teaching material and Sampark TV to teach according to the SCERT textbooks. Our AI-Driven Speak English Program also improves teachers’ instructing abilities and children’s speaking and comprehension skills.
The Resounding Impact of Teacher-friendly Resources
After using our tools, teachers reported a 50% reduction in their lesson planning time and, most importantly, an increase in confidence. This helped them feel more excited about their classes, improving professional satisfaction. This positive influence was also witnessed in students, as teachers themselves saw a rise in curiosity amongst the class and improvement in comprehension in challenging subjects.
The Path to Amplifying the Positive Outcomes
Our journey to reach even the remotest areas and support every child in achieving quality education is a long one. To ensure that we can maximise our impact, we developed a special innovation called the Partner Dashboard. It helps us monitor the allocation of resources and progress against key performance indicators.
However, the true test is to empower teachers to deliver quality education with teacher training programs and the required teaching aids, which can, in turn, empower children to learn and grow to their full potential. You can help us increase our vision’s impact by volunteering to become a SPARK today!
